Again to silence the doubters, all the kids were able to sign into the ITF tournament in Santiago as predicted. Vanessa and Daphne were given WILD CARDS by the tournament director as well, as he had been able to get to know us personally in Vina and liked us immensely as a group, and now has a great personal relationship with David. This is certainly not something we would have been able to achieve all the way from Australia, just by email. Nothing beats face to face communication, does it!
They are currently playing first round of qualies as we speak. The Tennis Centre is stunning, 22 clay courts located at the foot of the Andes Mountains and the ball flies so fast as the air is quite thin up there. We will post photos tomorrow as Casandra is bringing her camera then. Its also much colder up there than Vina.
The kids had a fantastic practise session yesterday and showed much more confidence than the last tournament in Vina del Mar. They are now a little more sure of what is ahead of them and not so anxious of the unknown. From here on in, the kids will gain much more confidence with each passing tournament and we expect them to perform very well within their own personal level.
From here on in the ITF tournaments go to grade 5, which is an even easier level to compete at so we hope their new level of experience will see them gain more out of each tournament.
GO THE DEEPSTARS!
