Today was a great day for the boys... Arman won comfortably and played very smart tennis. Bijan finished up with 49 winners and 30 unforced errors and this gave him a 6-4, 6-0 victory. Brandon is out for a few days as a physio diagnosed him with possible growth pain injuries in his heels. He will be getting some silicon implants for his shoes which should soften them up and sort out the problem.
Stephanie had a walk over and is playing against a Chilean top 50 player tomorrow.
The most interesting match of the day was between two team mates, Daphne and Vanessa. There was a little tension as the match started, going game for game with Daphne taking the first set in a nail biting tie breaker 7-4. Vanessa bounced back in the second set 6-4 and then went on to take the 3rd set, 6-2. Daphne started misfiring a little but overall the match was great for both girls.
The Chiletenis Academy is a fantastic venue hosting 18 clay courts, impeccable grounds and a mini soccer field. They are also in the process of building 5 more courts plus a centre court, plus a full size soccer field and a swimming pool. This is pretty much the norm for tennis centres over here, its first class! The Director of the club has invited us to match play every day and will give our team their tshirts as well.
Everyone here has been super friendly and we are really looking forward to spending a few more days there.
Tonight the troups cooked some baked potatoes and sat around chatting together for ages afterwards, a bit of team bonding was going on. They are up at 6am tomorrow morning for a warm up and practise session before the next round of matches.
