After 13 weeks on tour the Deepstars are back on home turf. The tour was very successful for the team. They all gained invaluable experience and developed their games a great deal. Stephanie is now top 1000 in ITF which has been a huge step for her. She has a great strike rate in tournaments, 90% of the time improving her ranking.
The rest of the team are improving at a great rate, 2008 will see the rest of the Deepstars fly up the ranking ladder.
We now have two training bases in South America which we will be using on a annual basis. InDeep will be conducting tours to this region every year during oct/nov. The schedule will include a training week at the base, followed by ITF, Future and National Tournaments throughout South America. We have the edge there now as we have been there and done that so to speak, so our next tour will be even more successful as we have set up everything so we can just walk in and start next year.
The South American Officials have opened a welcoming door for In Deep International Athletes. In Deep would like to express a huge thank you to all the Officials at COSAT, and a special mention goes to Rodrigo Valdebenito, who were so helpful and accommodating for us everywhere we went.
The athletes are on a well earned break now and we look forward to starting our training with a bang just before christmas.

Steph and Daphne have backed up for another tournament this time a $10,000 Futures tournament.
They both went down in qualies but both have gained invaluable experience. Daphne got lucky loser today and played a good match against a girl that is 692 on the WTA rankings. Steph is next on the list for tomorrow.
Our flights are boked for December the 6th and at this time it is proving very difficult to get on any earlier.
After this tournament we will spend a couple of days on the beach, then get back into a heavy fitness routine.

Okay the troops are back in Santiago de Chile.
After 12 weeks of hard core training, 6 ITF's and two National tournaments the troops are ready to go home.
We left Peru at midnight last night and arrived in Chile at 5.30am local time.
After Steph's hard fought Rnd 16 match which ended up 6/1 7/6 down it was a great way to finish the tour.
6/1 4/1 down Steph started her mighty come back. Not holding back Steph powered her way back in the match getting it back to 6 all, saving three match points on the way. The tie break was a nail biter, going point for point. Steph saved another match point with a masive forehand winner on the line. Then at 6 all in the breaker Steph backed herself again crunching a backhand down the line after a 15 ball rally only to miss by mm's. Then a great point from her opponent sealed the match.
This tour has been awesome for the team. They have all learnt so much and gained so much confidence with in themselves. They are as keen as ever and are looking forward to a well deserved break.
Adios for now!!!

Toady was girls day. Started with Vanessa at 9am, putting up a good fight. She went down in the end to a girl from Peru that was a little to good.
Then Stephanie was on against an aggressive baseliner. It was tight till 4 all then Steph broke her serve to make it 5/4. The 5/4 game was awesome, she came out and hit an ace then followed it with three more winners to take the first set. Early in the second she established who was boss and went on to win 6/0. This was a convincing score against a very solid player.
Daphne went on at 3pm local time and was up against a very hot player. The girl did not miss and was ruthless. Daphne was also very good early but the persistance of her opponent took it's toll. Daphne went down but her ball striking ability was evident.
We will update this blog in two days after Steph plays her second round match.

Bijan and Arman today played in their qualy matches. Both went down in very tough games. Arman played a guy two years above him and put up an awesome fight. He really put his mind and body on the line today. The experience he has gained will play a major role for him in the years to come. Bijan was also put in a good performance but was just off the mark today.
The girls have a big training day tomorrow as a lead up to there main draw matches the following day.
They are all firing and pumped for another round of matchs.
I'll be back in two days.
Cheers
Dave

Today Stephanie was awesome. After 2 and a half hours on court, she powered her way through to the Quaterfinals. Down 5-3 in the third set Steph turned defence into attack and won 4 consecutive games to take out the match. First 2 sets were 6-4 5-7. Each game was long and intense.
Stay tuned for more action tomorrow.

Hola
After a long hard day at the courts with 3 of the Deepstars in action there were mixed results. Vanessa, Daphne, and I all played first round of main draw and after a lot of waiting and umming and erring about the courts and times, we all finally got on.
I played a girl from the Argentinian home land, and she gave me a run for my money. She was very consistent and showed plenty of heart. I kept focused all throughout my match although my strokes werent working very well but played a better mental game than her.
Won comfortably in straight sets.
Daphne and Vanessa went down to two Argentinian grinders. Their two opponents were grinding machines.
Nathan and the team are going to Bolivia tomorrow as sign in is on Friday.
Dave and i will join the team on Saturday in Santa Cruz.
Check out my results tomorrow.
Ciao!

Hola!
Today is the first day of maindraw. I am sitting here 4 hours away from my match with my coach and fitness trainer discussing our war plan. Our preparation has been awesome. Daph and Ness are also drafting their plans aswell as they have placed themselves in a perfect situation. One match away from achieving their goal.
The weather today at the Macarbi Club is overcast and cool.
The boys went down in qualies yesterday. Arman progressed to second round and went down fighting like a machine. They are off to Bolivia tomorrow with Nathan to get ready for the next ITF.
I am just about to upload photos.
P.S Chris check out Daphne, our latest and greatest 'LEAN MEAN FIGHTING MACHINE'!
The blog will be updated again with all our results at the end of the day.
Ciao!
